CREEPY CLASSICS presents...

MOVIE NIGHTS

Every weekend we're watching movies together...whether you're in Pennsylvania USA, or Sydney Australia. It's a throwback! Back to the days when you had the anticipation for waiting till the weekend to see the classic horror or science fiction film that was listed in the TV Guide. The plan is to watch a movie at 7:30PM on Saturday night in your own time zone. Or, if you can't Saturday night...anytime during the weekend. Then, we'll all get together and e-mail our thoughts on the film...a few paragraphs...or simply a sentence if you'd like. They after-viewing reviews appear first on our Creepy Classics/Monster Bash News Page. See the latest thoughts posted by viewers ther now.

Concept submitted by Mike Adams of Cartaret, New Jeresey.

Saturday June 30, 2012 - MOVIE - Comedy "THE GHOST BREAKERS" (1940). A great comedy-horror with Bob Hope. Noble Johnson in really great make-up is the zombie of an island. There's a castle and a ghost too. Excellently filmed. Suggested by Ron Adams, Ligonier, PA.

This could very well be my second favorite horror-comedy next to ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN (1948). It features great, snappy lines from Bob Hope. One line comes during an outrageous thunderstorm where Hope quips "Basil Rathbone must be throwing a party." In context, this film would have come out on the huge success of SON OF FRANKENSTEIN where Rathbone played Baron Frankenstein.

Supporter players are terrific, Willie Best plays a scared, but logical voice of reason. Paulette Goddard, was married to Charlie Chaplin at the time. Anthony Quinn plays Anthony twins. And, Noble Johnson (native chief in KING KONG) plays one creepy looking zombie with Frankenstein-esque brow. When Johnson is walking straight towards the camera in an inteior castle scene...it's geniuinly frightening.

Smooth production, without a dull moment. Great one in my opinion.

-Ron Adams, Ligonier, PA
